Medgen Life Science Completes Series A+ Funding, Building a Natural Bone Repair Material Platform

By Medgen Life Science

Second Financing in Two Months, Cumulative Total Approaching RMB 100 Million

Medgen Life Science has successfully completed its Series A+ financing round of tens of millions of RMB, exclusively invested by Yuansheng Venture Capital. This marks the company's second financing in under two months, bringing the cumulative total across two rounds to nearly RMB 100 million. The proceeds will supplement working capital to advance current medical aesthetics product clinical trials and support post-launch sales and marketing of orthopedic innovation products.

Consecutive Regulatory Approvals for Innovative Orthopedic Products

In the second half of 2024, as the Shanxi Aorui allograft bone incident brought public attention to the critical shortage of quality bone materials, bone material companies such as Aojing Medical and Zhenghai Bio-tech saw surges in the secondary market. In November-December, Medgen's orthopedic division received registration certificates for two innovative products — artificial bone filling material and a Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) preparation device — directly addressing the market's demand for innovative solutions.

Among the current domestic bone filling material registrations, the vast majority are bone cement, bioceramics, or synthetic hydroxyapatite. While these products possess certain biomimetic structures and processing technologies, their clinical efficacy still cannot replace autologous bone, particularly in biological properties such as osteoinduction. Medgen launched China's first pre-filled injectable artificial bone based on natural hydroxyapatite material, demonstrating excellent osteoinductive properties comparable to autologous bone in preliminary experiments. Beyond superior performance, the product design enables direct filling without on-site mixing, significantly reducing surgical time.

Medgen's artificial bone demonstrated bone tissue induction volume at 6 weeks post-surgery that was twice that of competing products, showing a significant advantage.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a platelet concentrate obtained from autologous whole blood after centrifugation, rich in growth factors, cytokines, antimicrobial peptides, and other bioactive substances. PRP therapy is now widely used across orthopedics, sports medicine, and medical aesthetics. Medgen's PRP preparation device features multiple proprietary patents, employs a triple-chamber independent sealed design with fully enclosed separation, and uses a dual-gradient centrifugation method, achieving an optimal balance of preparation quality and efficiency.

Committed to Natural Materials: Building a Multi-Domain Regenerative Platform

Similar to bone filling materials, natural and synthetic hydroxyapatite show significant differences in effectiveness when used as regenerative aesthetic injection raw materials. The porous structure and higher porosity of natural microspheres provide stronger cell adhesion and attachment capacity, enabling faster and greater collagen stimulation regeneration — delivering "superior filling results with more complete metabolism." Multiple international publications have confirmed the advantages of natural-source hydroxyapatite over synthetic alternatives.

Medgen is the only company among China's leading players to adopt the natural hydroxyapatite technology route. Clinical trials for multiple indications using the company's medical aesthetics injectable raw materials are proceeding smoothly.

The company is methodically advancing its R&D, market, and sales initiatives. Going forward, Medgen will maintain balanced, rapid development across both serious medicine and consumer healthcare, striving to build a multi-domain, multi-product natural material regenerative repair platform enterprise.

Stakeholder Perspectives

Medgen Life Science Founder and CEO Deng Siling stated: "We are grateful for Yuansheng Venture Capital's confidence in our company. Completing nearly RMB 100 million in financing in just two months, while making significant progress across orthopedic, medical aesthetics, and other pipelines, demonstrates the fighting spirit of Medgen's R&D, clinical, and regulatory teams. It also validates our commitment to the natural materials technology platform. Through future multi-product expansion and ongoing market education, we hope Medgen will become not merely a medical aesthetics or orthopedic materials company, but a leader in promoting the philosophy of natural bone repair and regenerative materials across the entire industry."

Gu Leimin, Partner at Yuansheng Venture Capital stated: "Hydroxyapatite is widely used in medical applications, and natural-source hydroxyapatite has unique advantages in tissue repair, filling, and induced regeneration. Medgen's focus on novel regenerative materials with emphasis on natural raw material sourcing and processing has yielded encouraging progress in both medical aesthetics and serious medicine."

Liu Xiao, Managing Director at Yuansheng Venture Capital stated: "Market education for regenerative injectables has matured in recent years, with institutions and aesthetic consumers eagerly awaiting compliant new products. We are confident in the resilience and execution of CEO Deng's team. Medgen's natural porous hydroxyapatite and collagen product pipelines enrich consumer choices. We look forward to Medgen delivering safer, more effective anti-aging solutions."
